8-9-24 / 8-10-24 Hillsboro, OR The Best In The West
Plans Have Changed. please read below.
We are rapidly approaching time for the traditional Best In The West. This year we are down sizing it and moving it for a smaller BITW”. The Pacific Northwest Tool Collectors biennial Best In The West show is well known for the attendance, quality tools for sale and the number of superb displays. This year we have not enjoyed the the same interest or projected attendance compared to years past. It has been decided to down size the meeting and move it. The new location is Hillsboro Oregon and the schedule has been modified. It will start with upscale tool sale Friday afternoon in the barn while the displays are being set up. There will be a group who go to Nonna Amilia's Italian restaurant for dinner and the barn will be closed and locked during that time. It is projected that will be from about 5:00 until 7:00. Saturday starts early, real early with tailgating in the wooded parking area and allows time to set up any additional displays. Lunch will be about noon with BBQ and sides with dessert. There will tables and chairs under canopies for lunch. The awards for the displays will be presented and the favors will be passed. Rudy's grandfather's authentic Joh Weiss and Sohn's workbench will be auctioned off before the move upstairs for the big auction. The auction will have plenty of the best. The four canopies will be auctioned off as part of the larger auction following lunch. The price for the event is $25.00 which includes the BBQ lunch. A favor may be ordered for $ 50.00 with each paid admission. If you have already registered for the original event at the LaQuinta in Tacoma, Conrad will be calling each of you to ask what you want to do. If you didn't register for the original event, but now want to registered for the relocated BITW, the registration information will be coming out very soon and Chuck will be handling those registrations. You will need to pre-register for the new event so that we know how many lunches to purchase. We understand that these changes involve changes to travel plans and motel reservations, and the PNTC Directors wish that we could have stayed with the original plan. But with the penalties associated with not reaching our numbers with the event venue, we felt we had no choice but to change locations. We have put a lot of energy into creating the new plan, and believe that we will have a quality BITW this August, even if it is smaller than in years past.
I hope to see you there, Steve Crow
