Course Description

The joinery window uses six different boards to create nine different joints. These nine joints will teach all the skills needed to make almost any point in the world. This project was traditionally used as a test to see the quality of joints a person could create. most people can make any one of these joints, but to make all nine come together is a whole different level of skilled work.

This course has 3 different sections, students can choose to attend all 3 or take them individually:

Course no 1 – April 12th: halflap, the center half-lap, and the dovetail lap.

Course no 2 – May 10th: mortice and tenon, draw bore, and traditional pocket hole.

Course no 3 – June 21st: bridal joint, mitered bridal, and mitered spline.

Tools/Materials Needed

Tools:

Marking knife

Square

Marking gauge(two if possible)

Morticing gauge (optional)

Joinery saw Japanese or Western (rip tooth and Crosscut if possible)

Chisel set

Mallet

Router plane (optional)

Sholder/Rabbet Plane (optional)

Materials:

1 course = 3 boards of softer easy wood 3/4″ X 2″ X 10″ (poplar is what we will use in person)

All 3 courses = 6 boards of softer easy wood 3/4″ x 2″ x 10″ (poplar is what we will use in person)
