REED Planes Infill Plane
REED Planes are now available for purchase. These planes are from castings that were never completed when I paused plane making in the early 90’s. Each plane will be customized for the buyer.
All planes are designed for a 2” blade.
The planes will be set up, sharpened, and ready to go with a bunch of shavings and a piece of planned wood showing what to expect. Each plane will have a storage box, plane adjusting hammer, custom chip breaker screwdriver, and a cleaning brush.
All planes come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you are not happy with the plane for any reason, we will make it right or refund your purchase.
The purchase of a plane will require a deposit of $200.00, with the balance due before shipping. All Shipping Includes tracking and insurance. Once a deposit has been received, I will contact the buyer, and we will go over:
Woods that I have available. I have figured and burl North American woods to choose from. Also, some old stock Macassar Ebony, Rosewood, and a few other exotics. I am not purchasing any new tropical wood, so if you want to supply your wood, that is no problem; I will supply you with the dimensions required.
Metal and wood finishes
Blades - I will be supplying Magna Cut 2” blades from Lake Erie Toolworks. If another blade is requested, we can go over the options, and if it can fit the plane, I will use it. Additional costs may be needed.
Intended use and throat size.
Lead times and any special requests

A bit about REED Planes:
Reed Planes was developed from my frustrations with using Stanley planes and old, tired Norris planes. My goal was to create a handplane that would solve the shortcomings of these planes as well as a way for them to be adjustable due to wear over time. I have adapted many of my improvements for replacement parts that can easily modify a Stanley handplane.
